Delta Partners ranked in Top 3 European VC firms
Dateline: 30 June 2004
Delta Partners from Ireland has been ranked as one of Europe’s top three most active venture capital investors during the first quarter of 2004. The report on venture capital deal activity was recently published by Ernst & Young and VentureOne, a provider of finance and investment data to the venture capital (VC) industry.*
The Quarterly European Venture Capital Report lists Delta Partners as the only Irish firm in the European top ten at the start of 2004. Delta Partners was placed in joint second with the VC arm of the leading Swedish bank, SEB, both with 5 investments and only behind 3i Group who had a total of 21 confirmed during the period.
Within Europe, Ireland reported a unique quarter on quarter increase with two more deals than in the 4th quarter, 2003, and the level of funds invested up 60%. According to the report, overall European venture capital activity declined in the first quarter of 2004 with deal flow levels falling in France, Germany and the UK. The first quarter traditionally shows a decrease from the fourth, both in Europe and the USA.
Since the last half of 2003 and ahead of a venture capital market recovery, Delta Partners has been more active than ever in pursuing investment opportunities. Our investment style over 20 years has been consistent, focusing on building sizeable equity positions in early stage seed and start up businesses with growth potential,” comments Maurice Roche, a General Partner at Delta Partners.
Delta Partners is an Irish venture capital firm established in 1994. With over €125 million under management and a strong focus on investing in the early stages of technology companies, the team has made over 50 investments in the following sectors: Communications, Internet, Software and Life Sciences.
